Welcome to RPF's Role-Play Terminology thread! Here are the basic terminology's definitions!
Role-Playing (role-play, RP, RPing): The concept where one acts out scenes and stories with others around a particular theme by assuming a character.
Out of Character (OOC): You use this to say something as yourself, not the role you have taken. eg. (OOC: I'm off to bed night!)
In Character (IC): IF you have used OOC, you will need to use IC to become back in character eg. (OOC: I'm off to bed night!) IC: *the post you are writing*
Godmoding (godmoding, moding, godmodding etc.): Where a character does something they are not capable of and/or do not have permission to do to another character, e.g. moving another character by stating they are somewhere they are not without the other player’s permission, mind-reading without permission, stating something about a character's story line without permission. It also can be used to describe the effect on another. This is not possible, only staff may 'God-Mod'.
Powergaming: Role-Playing is a give and take experience. No one is invincible, no one has all knowledge... -everyone has weaknesses.
No Sulky Sues, no God-Mods. Only Staff can use them. (In a non-abusive way).
